Scarpa Hiking and Trail Running Shoes Are Now at Outside Sports

We are proud to welcome Scarpa adventure and running shoes to Outside Sports in New Zealand and Australia.

Scarpa was founded was founded in 1938 by shoemakers in Asolonear Italy’s spectacular Dolomite mountains. SCARPA is an acronym for Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima - meaning the ‘united shoe manufacturers of the Asolo area.’ 

The Parisotto family bought the company in 1956, and Scarpa is still family-owned today. Its headquarters and main manufacturing facility remain in the Montebelluna/Asolo footwear district, which is the undisputed international centre of excellence for high-performance adventure footwear and ski boots. 

Over the years, Scarpa has been responsible for some major developments in mountain footwear, including the first plastic mountaineering boots. Today Scarpa produces working boots, mountaineering, hiking shoes and boots, climbing, trail running, and approach shoes, and lightweight ski touring boots. 

Scarpa also has a long historyin New Zealand. Scarpa shoes and boots have been available here since the 70’s, where alongside Sorel boots, they are a favourite of ski field workers. Now we're proud to stock Scarpa at Outside Sports.

Scarpa uses the European sizing scale - but never fear because there’s good news for Aussies and Kiwis with our chunky feet. Reviewers report that their fit is more like a standard medium volume fit rather than an ultra-narrow fit. You can refine the fit to your feet with Sidas custom insoles (highly recommended!!!) and thicker or thinner socks.

It features an upper made from sturdy Nubuck with cooling provided by mesh side-vents, and a breathable/waterproofPFC free GORE-TEX® lining. The super grippy PRESA® HIK-04 sole with Scarpa’s super gum rubber gives you the agility and stability you need to cover the varied surfaces you’ll encounter on the trail with added confidence. A built-in RECCO® reflector helps you get rescued faster if you get lost. 

The Scarpa Moraine Mid GTX is a versatile, lightweight mid-cut hiking boot that's great choice for both beginners and regular day-hikers who like the extra ankle support of a higher cut boot than the regular Scarpa MorianeGTX shoe, and don’t mind a little extra weight.The mid-height collar and an internal nylon shank give you a sturdy, supportive platform that provides more on the rocky or uneven terrain you’llencounter away from the main hiking trails. 

The Scarpa Mojito is a stylish, comfortable casual shoe that combines features from rock and approach shoes in an amazingly versatile shoe. Itnot only works for light hiking, short approaches and bouldering – but looks great in town too. The Scarpa Mojito features a water-resistant suede upper, with lacing down to the toe for a precise, custom fit. The Vellutina lining is soft, comfortable, wicks moisture and dries quickly. The grippy Spyder sole with a shock absorbing Vibram® rubber outsole gives you excellent traction, but without the degree of underfoot protection that you’ll get from dedicated hiking shoes. 

The Scarpa Spin Planet trail running shoe is Scarpa’s most sustainable shoe yet. It featuresanEXO upperthat’s 100% made from recycled materials, an EVA midsole that uses 45% recycled material,and a rubber outsole made from 30% recycled rubber.
