More Control, Better Traction

One of the biggest developments for 2027 is the updated Maestro rear suspension system, with 140mm of travel, paired with a 150mm front fork.

The Trance X 2 features a Fox 36 Float Rhythm fork with a GRIP damper and a Fox Float Performance rear shock. The revised Maestro design uses a trunnion-mounted shock and Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm to improve chassis stiffness and deliver smooth, responsive suspension performance.

This combination provides the control and traction needed for rocky descents, exposed roots, drops and uneven terrain, without sacrificing the pedaling efficiency that's important on longer rides and endurance events like the Motatapu.

Adjustable Geometry to Suit Your Riding Style

The Giant Trance is a highly personalisable bike. The three-position flip chip allows you to adjust the frame geometry. You can choose the higher setting for additional ground clearance on technical climbs, or lower the bike for greater stability when descending at speed. There's also a new headset flip chip for adjusting reach, helping youto refine your position in the cockpit.

The Trance X comes standard with 29-inch wheels, but if you prefer you can switch to a smaller 27.5-inch rear wheel for a more playful, agile feel, if you tend to session steep and twisting trails.

Drivetrain and Braking Components That Can Take It

The Trance X 2 features a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain, with a wide-ranging 10–51T cassette that provides plenty of gearing for steep climbs while letting you keep up the speed on flatter trails.

The stopping power comes from TRP EVO Comp hydraulic disc brakes, with 180mm rotors front and rear.

Giant's TRA 2 alloy wheels, Maxxis Assegai front tyre and Minion DHR II rear tyre complete a package designed to give you dependable traction and control.

We’ve chosen to stock the Trance X at Bikes By Outside Sports because we think it’svery well suited to the type trail and all-mountain riding we get around the Southern Lakes.

Its combination of suspension travel and adjustable geometry makes it especially appealing to riders who want one bike for different types of terrain, rather than a specialised downhill or cross-country machine.

We think the biggest attraction of the Giant Trance X is it’sversatility. The adjustable geometry, potential to switch to a mullet configuration, and the proven Maestro suspension offers you heaps of scope to tailor the bike to your preferences.
