Not far from the Southern Lakes you’ll find world-class surf on both the east, west and south coasts of the South Island. There are surfers on the Outside Sports team who live in Te Anau, Queenstown, Wanaka, and Tekapo and regularly drive two or three hours in search of waves – and do it all year round. Because the waters of the South Island are chilly, a wetsuit is an essential part of your surfing gear. But how do you know which is the best one for you? Especially if it’s your first wetsuit? There’s actually quite a lot to consider – and we’re here to help! 

One of the best thing about skiing holidays is that the fun doesn’t end when the lifts stop spinning. Après Ski has been part of snow sports since people first started playing in the snow. Hands down the biggest and best Après Ski scene in the Southern Hemisphere is at Queenstown, which is tailor made for having fun after a day on the mountain. Most of the action is clustered near the lake front making the après vibes energetic and lively.

Bikepacking is taking off in New Zealand in tandem 😁 with the development of our amazing nationwide cycle trail network, which lets you see the country from top to bottom via dedicated cycle and dual use (bike/hike) trails. There are 23 Great Rides listed on the NZCycle Trail website. The trails range from 2 to 8 days in duration, and you can link them up for even longer time in the saddle. In fact, you can easily bikepack whole length of the country on the Te Araroa Trail which incorporates many of the Great Rides.
